Welcome to the White Mountain Publications Newsletter
June 10, 2026

Summer has arrived in Northern Ontario and with it comes another season of reading, writing, and exploring. We are grateful for the continued support of our customers, authors, and newsletter subscribers. Every visit to the store and every book purchased helps us continue bringing unique Canadian voices to readers everywhere.

As tourist season begins, we invite everyone travelling through the Temiskaming area to stop by our store in historic Cobalt. During the summer we are also open on Mondays through July and August. Along with our published titles, you'll find thousands of gently pre-loved books covering almost every subject imaginable.

Pinstripes and Blondes We are pleased to announce the release of Pinstripes & Blondes: Surviving Booze, Broads and Blow by Mark Daniels.

This candid memoir takes readers through decades of success, excess, poor decisions, hard lessons, and eventual redemption. Written with humour and honesty, it provides an unfiltered look at a life lived at full speed. Readers looking for a compelling true story will find much to appreciate in this engaging new release.

Erratic by Gretchen Roedde Gretchen Roedde's mystery novel Erratic continues to attract readers.

Set primarily in Northern Ontario, this intriguing murder mystery revolves around a glacial erratic boulder and a series of mysterious deaths. Combining a strong sense of place with compelling characters and suspenseful storytelling, it remains one of our most popular recent releases.

The Gabby Series

If you haven't yet discovered André Maheu's remarkable Gabby trilogy, summer is the perfect time to begin.

Gabby

Gabby introduces readers to one of Northern Ontario's most entertaining fictional characters. Set in New Liskeard during the years 1916 to 1918, Gabby somehow manages to stumble into important historical events while meeting famous personalities along the way. His adventures through World War I and Northern Ontario history make for an unforgettable read.

Gabby Remembers

Gabby Remembers continues the story as Gabby recounts his adventures through the Roaring Twenties, the Dirty Thirties, and the early years of the Fabulous Forties. As usual, he encounters historical figures from all walks of life while offering his unique perspective on world events.

Gabby The Legacies

Gabby The Legacies brings the trilogy to a satisfying conclusion. Gabby and his children play important roles during World War II as he confronts new challenges, celebrates successes, and reflects upon the legacies he will leave behind. A fitting finale to a much-loved series.

As a reminder to those who have said they would post a review on TripAdvisor, doing so would be a huge favour and show of support (and thank-you to those who did). More people came into the store this year saying that is where they discovered our store. The link is here: TripAdvisor reviews for White Mountain Publications, aka White Mountain Books. We appreciate all your support.

We hope you enjoy a safe and relaxing summer filled with family, friends, and plenty of good books. Thank you once again for your continued support of White Mountain Publications.

Be well, stay safe, and happy reading.
